He scored 24 goals last season to emerge the top scorer
Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga kickstarted the hunt for a third top scorer gong in Qatar by netting in Al Duhail's 2-1 win over Al Ahli Doha on Friday evening on the road.
Despite being linked with a move out of the club, Olunga stayed put and seems to be destined for another great season after scoring on the opening day.
The former Gor Mahia striker struck first after just 22 minutes to see Duhail head into the break with the advantage.
He was however cautioned towards the end of the first half for arguing with the referee and had to play a big chunk of the match cautiously to avoid being sent off.
On resumption for the second half, former Southampton midfielder Ibrahima Diallo who joined Duhail in the off-season scored within three minutes to double the advantage for Duhail.
However, the two-goal cushion lasted only six minutes as Islam Yaseen pulled one back to make it 2-1.
Nevertheless, Duhail held on to the one-goal advantage to the final whistle to bag maximum points.
They will host newly-promoted Al Mu'aidar next week on Friday.
Last season, he scored 24 league goals to emerge the top scorer in the QatariStars League for the second time running, having done so the previous season with 22 goals.
Duhail will be looking to defend the title they won last season, with Olunga scoring four goals on the final day to help seal the championship.
