Olunga was named in the team of the week for a second consecutive time in a space of three days

Harambee Stars captain and Al Duhail striker Michael Olunga has been named in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League team of the week for the second consecutive time after putting in dazzling displays in the ongoing tournament.

The 2020 Japanese Most Valuable Player struck twice for his side in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Esteghlal FC to send his team to the top of Group C standings in the tournament and earn him a place in matchday 4 team of the week.

Olunga made it into the team of the week for the first time in matchday 3 when he created history by scoring the very first hat-trick of the 2021 Champions League tournament, netting three against the same opponents Esteghlal in the first leg of the two team’s encounter last Wednesday.

After bagging a brace yesternight, the former Gor Mahia man is now two goals clear at the top of the scoring charts in the tournament taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after netting six times. Olunga’s closest challenger is Al Ahli’s Omar Al Somah who is on four goals.

After scoring five goals against the same opponent in a span of three days, Olunga seems to be enjoying his time against Esteghlal FC, isn’t he?
