Michael Olunga is the AFC Champions League top scorer with eight goals, doubling his next challenger's tally.
Kenyan international Michael Olunga continued his red hot scoring streak but his goal failed to inspire Al Duhail to victory as they lost 2-1 to Al Shorta.
The former Gor Mahia forward continues to tear apart the AFC Champions League on his debut campaign as he has now bagged eight goals in five matches.
The imperious record now means Olunga has scored 80% of Duhail’s goals in Asia's premier club competition with no other player scoring for the Qatari side in the past two matches.
Duhail endured a horrendous start to the game as they conceded a third-minute goal through Amjad Attwan who hit a first-time volley as Al Shorta went to half time break with the lead.
The 2020 Qatari champions came back strong in the second half as skipper Almoez Ali set up Olunga with a cut-back pass for the simplest of tap ins from the 2020 Japanese Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Conceding late has been a recurrent theme in Duhail's Champions League encounters this season and the Al Shorta clash was no different as Mohammad Dawood scored an 85th-minute winner.
Former Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia was handed his marching orders in the 96th minute for a second bookable offence.
Duhail head coach Sabri Lamouchi blasted the player's mental approach to the game and shifted his focus to the next match against Al Ahly Jeddah.
“It was clear from the beginning of the match that the players were not fully focused, which resulted in the early goal we received which made us suffer throughout the first half, which ended with the progress of Al Shorta team,”
“In the second half we tried to return and we succeeded in that, but the performance was not as required and we did not present the performance we presented in our previous matches and we retreated in the attack side clearly, and we should not put excuses, but we have to accept this loss and work to avoid it in our next match against Al Ahly,” said the former Inter Milan midfielder.
