In a match that was rather uneventful, 40-year-old Luka Modrić managed to score for Milan and secure a 1–0 victory over Bologna
We didn’t see particularly attractive football tonight at the stadium in Milan. In fact, the visitors can be said to have lost undeservedly. Still, the result is what counts, and the three points stay in Milan.
The first half at San Siro ended goalless, though both teams came close to breaking the deadlock. Milan threatened in the 11th minute when Santiago Tomas Gimenez received a precise pass inside the box and fired low toward the center of the goal, but the Bologna goalkeeper reacted brilliantly to deny him, conceding a corner.

Just three minutes later, Bologna thought they had taken the lead through Nicolo Cambiaghi, but the celebrations were cut short as the assistant referee flagged for offside. In the 21st minute, Mike Maignan was called into action, producing a fine save to stop Riccardo Orsolini’s powerful effort from inside the area.
Milan had the best chance of the half in the 24th minute when Pervis Estupinan found himself in a perfect scoring position but could only rattle the woodwork.

The second half brought more intensity and drama, with Milan pushing hard to break the deadlock. In the 53rd minute, Santiago Tomas Gimenez went down in the box after a challenge, but the referee quickly waved play on despite Milan’s protests. Six minutes later, Gimenez had a golden chance when he received a precise pass inside the area, but his shot went wide of the right post.
Milan finally found the breakthrough in the 61st minute. Alexis Saelemaekers combined well with Luka Modric, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner from inside the box to make it 1–0. The goal is HERE!

The hosts almost doubled their lead in the 69th minute when Samuele Ricci struck from the edge of the area, only to be denied by the right post.
The chances kept coming for Gimenez, but his finishing let him down. In the 70th minute, he fired straight at Skorupski from close range, and in the 83rd minute, he rattled the left post after a well-timed run into the box.
Controversy struck late on. In the 86th minute, a reckless Bologna challenge initially led the referee to point to the penalty spot. However, after a VAR review, the decision was overturned, leaving Milan frustrated as they were denied the chance to seal the game from the spot.
