KCB goalkeeper Brian Olang'o is elated after making his club debut on Monday in their Football Kenya Federation Premier League tie against Muhoroni Youth played at the Muhoroni Stadium.
Olang'o was preferred in between the sticks following the absence of first-choice goalkeeper Bryne Omondi, who traveled to Turkey with the national team for a friendly match against Russia.
Omondi had kept three clean sheets in the opening five rounds of the season, and in his absence, Olang'o manned the goal successfully as KCB were awarded the game 2-0.
The game was abandoned in the 90th minute when KCB were leading 1-0 due to crowd trouble, with the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee later awarding maximum points and two goals to the bankers.
Keeping a clean sheet away in Muhoroni in his first league appearance while in a KCB shirt left Olang'o a happy man, even as he hopes that the club will stretch their solid defensive record further.
"It was a good feeling to make my competitive debut for the team. It was also great to keep a clean sheet in a game that was tough," he said.
KCB has depth in their goalkeeping department, as apart from Olang'o and Omondi, the duo of Bixente Otieno and Gabriel Andika, who all boast of international experience, are attached to the club.

Otieno is a former national U20 team goalkeeper, while the experienced Andika earned a number of Stars call-ups when he was at AFC Leopards.
Olang'o says the quality of the department will be key to the club's success this season. The team has conceded three goals in six rounds.
"Competition makes us better and benefits the team. We hope for more clean sheets," said Olang'o, who joined the bankers from Mathare United.
