The Kenyan International has endured a tough start to life at the Belgian club including notching an own goal in two consecutive defeats but coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck continued to entrust him, starting him once again in defense.

And the former Chemelil Sugar FC man did not disappoint. After a goalless 72 minutes, he scored what would be the winner for Gent, sending them to the play off stage of the new competition.

The two teams had played to a two-all draw in the fist leg qualifying encounter in Gent last week and the return leg win now means the Belgian clubs is through to the play off stage where they are set to face off with Russian giants FK Rubin Kazan.
The UEFA Conference League is the third-tier of the European club football which was introduced during the 2021-22 season. It is primarily contested by teams from lower-ranked UEFA member nations.
