Okumu played for 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet as Elfsborg beat Norrkoping.

Kenyan international Joseph Okumu clocked full minutes as Elfsborg bounced back to winning ways edging out Norrkoping in a Swedish Allsvenskan match, and kept a clean sheet in the process.

Jeppe Okkels grabbed the all-important goal in the 40th minute to hand his team lead into the break. Elfsborg held to the solitary goal for the entire second half to see the match end 1-0.

The win takes Elfsborg to fourth, albeit temporarily, with 13 points from 9 games. The league will break as UEFA Euro approaches and will resume in July.

The win comes on the back of back-to-back losses to Halmstads BK and Malmo FF.

The Harambee Stars defender was clocking a consecutive 90 minutes after making a comeback from injury in the 3-2 loss to Halmstads BK where he came in as a substitute in the 60th minute.

This was his second clean sheet this season, having kept the first one against Mjallby AIF as they won 1-0 last month.

Okumu's stellar performance with Elfsborg has seen him attract attention from clubs in Europe including Napoli, Valencia, OGC Nice, Belgian side Gent, Olympiacos and French outfit Stade Reims.

He has reportedly signed a pre-agreement contract with Scottish champions Rangers FC, a move that would see him play in the Champions League group stages next season if Rangers FC make it out of the qualifying stage.

The former Chemil Sugar defender's agent Stefan Andreasson acknowledged that Okumu has made a name for himself and deserves a challenge out of Sweden.

“I have said it once before, that he is the best defender that has ever been in the Allsvenskan since he came. He is supposed to have a career outside Scandinavia, which is positive. We must enjoy it as long as he remains,” Andreasson said in an interview with Fotbol Direkt.
