The former league champions were relegated last season
Versatile defender Brian Okeyo has returned to Mathare United after his move to secure top flight football with Nairobi City Stars flopped.
Okeyo trained with City Stars for the better part of the pre-season and even featured for the club in the second edition of the Elite Pre-season Cup.
However, he didn't nail a place in the team and was forced to return to Mathare who are preparing for their return to the second tier having kissed the grass last season.
Mathare, who had spent 25 seasons in the top flight were relegated alongside Vihiga Bullets after finishing in the two bottom slots of the top tier last season.
Wazito who have since rebranded to Muhoroni Youth survived by a whisker as they beat Migori Youth in the promotion/relegation playoff.
"I am back at Mathare and even looking forward to the new season," he briefly told Mozzart Sport.
Having made up his mind to serve Mathare for another season, Okeyo who can play as a right or a centre back says the aim is to ensure the Slum Boys get back to the table of me.
Mathare lost majority of players who were attached to the team last season as they sought to remain in the top tier.
However, some Stars including Okeyo have opted to remain behind. Others include: Mark Khwasira, Godfrey Rabar, Fidel Otieno among others.
"The plan we have as a team is to get promoted at the end of the season. Our unity and hard work will see us through," added the former FC Talanta defender.
