Oh, life, you woodwork! Forest say bye to FA Cup despite dominating Man City

Life can be so cruel, just ask Nottingham Forest and their fans.

The Tricky Trees played a remarkable match, especially in the second half, but lost to Manchester City 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday night.

Nuno Espirito Santo's team conceded a very early goal from Rico Lewis, and the score stayed 1-0 at halftime without too many chances on either end. However, things changed dramatically on the pitch upon the restart as Forest rushed for the equalizer, and what happened in the next half an hour or so will be remembered for years, for all the wrong reasons.

Morgan Gibbs-White hit the post twice - one stunning volley and another unsuccessful tap-in, and Taiwo Awoniyi also hit the woodwork. Instead of turning things upside down, and coming from behind to book the FA Cup showdown ticket, the Tricky Trees conceded another. Josko Gvardiol jumped sky high following a corner from the left, and against the run of play, the Cityzens found themselves 2-0 up, probably to Pep Guardiola's surprise, let alone the rest of us.

When Ortega stopped Gibbs-White's header, it was clear that we were witnessing such a strange game and that was just not meant to be for the Tricky Trees.

City will face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 17.
