The bankers are third on the log, four points behind leaders Posta ahead of the mid-week round 9 clashes
KCB midfielder Apollo Otieno is looking to swell his goal contributions and inspire the bankers to their maiden Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title.
The bankers have never won the league title since inception, the closest they have come being a second-place finish in the 2020/21 season behind Tusker FC, and will be hoping to lay their hands on the gong this season and end their long wait.
Otieno, a league winner with Tusker in the 2020/21 season, revealed that he was looking to hit double digits this season despite being a defensive midfielder.
The hard-tackling midfielder opened his goal account at the club and in the season with a spectacular long-range strike in their 1-1 draw against defending champions Gor Mahia at the start of the month.
"Everyone has to play a part in the quest to win the title. Personally, I am hoping to reach the ten-goal mark while at the same time playing my primary role," said Otieno.
In a bid to land the first major title, KCB hired Bernard Mwalala before the start of the season, replacing Zedekiah Otieno.
Mwalala is best known for winning the Mozzart Bet Cup, formerly known as the Shield Cup, with Bandari in 2019 and achieving back-to-back runner-up finishes in the league with the Dockers.

He also came close to winning the league in the 2021/22 season, where he finished second with Kakamega Homeboyz, but the campaign was annulled by the federation.
"The coach wants us to be as competitive as we can. He is a serial winner, and we believe that with him, we will lift the title at the end of the season," said the former Sony Sugar midfielder while referring to their irreducible minimum in the season.
Otieno joined KCB in February after running out of contract at Tusker.
Despite KCB having other decent defensive midfielders, he fit in with the first team like a glove due to what he termed his hard work and experience.
