37 year-old David Otieno was Sofapaka's deadline day signing

Sofapaka FC head coach Ken Odhiambo has heaped praises on the latest signings that have joined the team in the just concluded transfer window.

Geoffrey Ojunga joined Batoto Ba Mungu towards the end of October from Western Stima, now Kisumu United, with David Otieno being the last player on Sofapaka's transfer list on deadline day.

While Otieno was a fringe player at Wazito, Ojunga was an integral player for Western Stima last season, pulling the strings in midfield despite Stima's drop at the end of the campaign.

The 37-year old center-back will add experience to the team, with the tactician seeing him as an option for their troubled right-back position.

The 20-year old Ojunga will add depth to Sofapaka's midfield options, with Otieno offering options in defense and Odhiambo is hopeful that the two players will add ultimate value to the team.

"I am glad we brought in Geoffrey Ojunga and David Otieno. The two are quality players, and for once we have the right-back issue sorted in Otieno. He is experienced and diligent in his work. Geoffrey adds more depth and force in our midfield, he is so talented and young. We hope the two will add value to our current squad," Odhiambo said.

Otieno who penned a two-year-long contract is expected to face stiff competition for playing time from Burundian international David Nshimirimana, Stephen Okola, and former Nzoia Sugar defender Elvis Ronack.

Otieno who joined Wazito from the defunct Ushuru in September 2019 had seen limited playing from the time coach Francis Kimanzi took over the reins preferring to use Johnstone Omurwa, Bernard Ochieng, and Maurice Ojwang as his center backs.

Sofapaka will play AFC Leopards on Sunday in a round 6 clash at Wundanyi Stadium.
