Odhiambo relishes goal for perfect birthday present

Kakamega Homeboyz forward David Okoth Odhiambo was the recipient of double delight after notching a goal on his birthday which he termed as the perfect present.

Okoth needed only 15 minutes to open the scoring for Abana Abeingo in the 3-1 thumping of Posta Rangers to extend their unbeaten run to eight games.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Okoth revealed that he had worked his socks off in training and viewed the goal as the perfect icing to the cake of his birthday.

“I thank God for the goal which comes also through hard work, I usually put an extra shift in training and I also asked God to give me a goal as a birthday present.

I would like to thank my teammates for getting the goal because without them I would not have gotten the goal,” said Okoth.

The diminutive forward has now plundered six goals this season and has netted in successive games after scoring in the 3-1 win over Bidco United.

Okoth noted that they followed the coach's tactics to the letter as they aimed to bury the game in the first half which happed with no goals being scored in the closing half.

“It was a good game because we stuck to our game plan which worked because we were supposed to kill the game in the first half.

We got three goals which motivated us and started to defend in the second half and we were able to walk away with the three points which are good for us,” added Okoth.
