The former Man United player will become a new member of Ipswich Town and play in the second tier of English football for the first time in 20 years

At his age, many players have been retired for years. Some have become managers or pundits, while others simply enjoy a normal life, far from training, matches, cameras, and the public. But not Ashley Young.

Even though he turned 40 two weeks ago, the former Man United player has no intention of hanging up the boots, as he'll join the ranks of Ipswich Town as a free agent.

The Tractor Boys were relegated from the Premier League last season, and Young is supposed to help them instantly return to the top tier. At the same time, the full-back will play his first season in the Championship after the 2005/2006 campaign, when he was a member of the second flight with his boyhood club Watford.

After leaving the Hornets, Young spent 17 years at EPL clubs, Aston Villa, Man United, and Everton. The only exception is a season he spent with Inter Milan between 2020 and 2021.

The man born in Stevenage left the most significant mark at Old Trafford, where he played for nine years and won five trophies, including the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League. In addition, he made 39 appearances for England and netted seven goals.

Last season, he made 36 appearances for Everton, recording one goal and three assists.

Hence, his experience will be vital for the Tractor Boys in their quest for the top of the Championship table. As for Young, every football fan will definitely be happy to see one of the icons still on the pitch despite his age. It's just a number, anyway.
