The young Kenyan midfielder got another taste of first-team football in the Serbian Superliga

Nairobi-born youngster Richard Odada, 20, made his second appearance for Crvena Zvezda in a competitive match. The Serbian champions, managed by former Lazio and Inter star Dejan Stankovic, are looking to ease the strong Kenyan player into their first-team picture.

The former European champions Zvezda, also known as Red Star Belgrade, retained their nine-point lead at the top of Serbian top flight with a sound 4-1 victory over FK Mladost. The match was already put beyond doubt on 72 minutes when Odada got the nod to come on.

You can hardly fault the youngster for trying to show the moves he’s got in his arsenal. It was Richard’s great desire to impress that led to him playing a few wayward passes, but other than that he provided a bit of steel and physicality to the squad in the final stages of the match.

The former AFC Leopards youngster was sent out on loan at second-tier team Graficar earlier in the season in order to gain some much-needed experience of playing competitive senior football. The 20-year-old showed enough promise to get a promotion to the first team of the club that’s on course to win their fourth national title in as many seasons.
