Oboya has returned back to the field, this time with his home town club of South B AllStars.
Former Kenyan International Patrick Oboya, 34, has joined FKF Division Two side South B AllStars on a one-year deal.
Oboya, who was last in the books of Kakamega Homeboyz in 2016 where he barely featured, says he is glad to join the team and is eager to help it earn promotion to the third-tier, the FKF Division One League, at the end of the season.
“I was born and bred in South B so this has always been home to me. I have been keeping fit with the team and the thought of signing officially crossed my mind severally and I am therefore very happy to actualize it,” he said,
“I left the hood as a kid to pursue professional football in Europe and I have never really got the chance to give back to the community that made me. This is my chance and I am very eager to help the team achieve its dream of promotion to the Division One league,” he added.
Oboya has been capped 33 times by the senior National Team Harambee Stars and scored three goals in the process. He first moved to the Czech Republic in 2007 where he featured for FK Banik Most for four years before crossing over to Slovakia to join Ruzomberok. He would later move to Vietnamese side Becamex Binh Duong for a very short stint in 2013 before coming back to Kenya.
He joined Gor Mahia and won the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title with the team in 2013 and later moved to Tusker in 2015, the team that gave him his KPL debut before he moved to Eastern Europe.
Joining Oboya at South B AllStars is his younger brother Abraham Dawo who is joining the team on a six months’ contract from South B Sports Academy (SUSA).
The Kenya U20 striker returned to the academy side earlier this year after a short stint at Kenya Police FC, a team he rejoined after trials at several lower-tier sides in Spain.
The forward expressed delight to have the opportunity to play alongside his elder brother.
“I am a footballer today because of the guidance and inspiration from my brother Oboya and therefore I could not let the opportunity to play alongside him pass away. We are here to help the team get to the Division One league and enjoy while at it.” He said.

South B AllStars coach Wilfred “Rio” Kiarie is also delighted to have the talented brothers at his disposal.
“Our attack will definitely be sharper now. Their presence in the team is also key in improving the performance of other younger players due to their experience. We are happy to have them around.” He said.
South B AllStars is currently second in the FKF Division Two League and resumes action on Saturday 5th June with a home game against Uprising FC.
