Nzoia coach wary of Mathare threat

Mwaura says Mathare pose a serious threat after appointing a new coach.

Nzoia Sugar FC assistant coach Peter Mwaura anticipates a tough match when his side takes on bottom-placed Mathare United on Sunday at the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma County.

The Millers will host the struggling Slum Boys with both outfits keen on getting maximum points that will ensure that they climb up the table. The Slum Boys recently hired Frank Ouna as their new coach after firing Salim Ali over a poor run in the FKF Premier League where the team lies in the bottom position with seven points from 15 league matches.

Ahead of the Sudi showdown, Mwaura is wary of how Mathare will show up at Sudi. According to the tacticians, teams tend to cause surprises when playing under a new coach due to a change in philosophy.

"This will be a very tough game because Mathare United are bottom in the table and secondly because they are under a new coach. When a new coach comes he tries to instil his philosophy and playing such a team can be tricky because you do not know what to expect. Also, the players will be trying to impress him and they can make things really difficult for opponents, "he told Mozzart Sport.

Mwaura however maintains that they will be out to get all the points from the match. He said they will be out to make amends on the mistakes they made against AFC Leopards last weekend

"We want to win. Our position in the table is equally bad and we desperately need to collect points. In our last game, we played well, created many chances which we failed to take and on Sunday we will be keen on making amends,” he added.

The match will kick off at 3 PM.
