Olympique Marseille consider Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares as a major reinforcement in their upcoming UCL campaign

After only a year spent with the Gunners, promising full-back Nuno Tavares could be leaving the Emirates Stadium, at least temporarily. The 22-year-old is Olympique Marseille's transfer target as the Ligue 1 runners-up are hoping to get him on a season-long loan.

As per sources, Arsenal are apparently open to the idea of letting him leave on a temporary basis.

For that to happen, however, it is believed Arsenal want to bolster their back line through the market, and Lisandro Martinez of Ajax is known to be the priority target.

On the other hand, Marseille would like to bring Tavares since the Champions League surroundings in the upcoming season demand some more artillery on the flanks. Portugal's U-21 international spent last season mostly as understudy to first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney, starting less than 40% of the EPL games.

Tavares made 28 appearances across all competitions and scored one goal as Mikel Arteta's men qualified for the Europa League.
