It's Matheus Nunes, 23, a midfielder who's about to join Liverpool's city rivals Everton

At first, it sounds like the days-old news about Darwin Nunez, Liverpool's super-expensive signing. But no, it's not.

The man of the almost same surname, this one's Nunes, is negotiating his move to the Reds' city rivals from Goodison Park.

Matheus Nunes is a 23-year-old midfielder currently playing for Sporting Lisbon, and according to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo, he'll travel soon to the city of Liverpool to finalise the deal with the Toffees.

Apparently, the Blues have already made an offer of €45 million, which was rejected by the Portuguese slot, who are looking for the release clause of €60m.

Nunes made 50 appearances for Sporting Lisbon across all competitions during the 2021/22 season. On 15 February 2022, in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, despite his team's 5-0 home loss to Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, who was impressed by the calibre of Nunes' performances, praised him as "one of the best players in the world."
