Migori Youth delivered a statement performance, edging past Kabati Youth to strengthen their push for the NSL title and promotion, while at the opposite end of the table, Mwatate United brushed aside Vihiga United to bolster their fight for survival.

Kabati Youth 1-2 Migori Youth

League leaders Migori Youth underlined their title credentials with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kabati Youth in Murang’a, a result that significantly boosted their promotion charge.

The visitors struck first through Samuel Maiko in the opening half, setting the tone for a tightly contested encounter.

However, Kabati responded after the break, with Sifuna Tyson restoring parity midway through the second half to ignite hopes of a comeback.

Just as the match appeared destined for a stalemate, Churchill Otieno rose to the occasion, unleashing a thunderous strike to restore Migori’s lead and ultimately seal maximum points.

The victory saw coach Sammy Otulo’s charges climb to 61 points, opening a three-point cushion at the summit and further strengthening their bid for the league title and historic promotion to the top flight.

For Kabati, however, it was another damaging setback.

With just nine matches remaining, they remain entrenched in the relegation zone, their survival hopes growing increasingly precarious as the pressure mounts.

Naivas FC 1-2 3K FC

Elsewhere, 3K FC kept their promotion ambitions alive with a gritty 2-1 win over Naivas FC at Khibet Grounds.

Goals from Oscar Juma and Ronald Kadona proved decisive for the Embu-based outfit, who continue to impress in the tightly contested race for top-tier qualification.

The win propelled coach Nicodemus Omasete’s side to 53 points, just one shy of third place, keeping them firmly in contention for promotion.

Naivas, on the other hand, saw their promotion hopes take a significant blow.

The defeat marked their second consecutive loss, leaving them 13 points adrift of the automatic promotion places and facing an uphill task in the remaining fixtures.

Equity FC 0-0 MOFA FC

In one of the day’s most anticipated fixtures, Equity FC and Michael Olunga Football Academy played out to a goalless draw at Mashuru Grounds in a direct promotion battle.

While both sides showed tactical discipline, the stalemate ultimately cost them valuable ground in the race for promotion.

The result leaves Equity in third place on 54 points, while MOFA sit fifth on 53 points, both sides aware that dropped points at this stage could prove costly in the final reckoning.

Mwatate United 3-1 Vihiga United

At Wundanyi Stadium, Mwatate United reignited their survival hopes with an emphatic 3-1 victory over Vihiga United in a high-stakes relegation clash.

The win marked a dream start for new head coach James Tole, whose impact was immediate and decisive.

With nine matches left, Mwatate’s triumph serves as a crucial confidence boost, lifting them to 24 points, just five shy of safety, and breathing new life into their fight against the drop.

For Vihiga United, the defeat compounded what has been a torrid and inconsistent campaign, leaving them rooted at the bottom of the table with their survival prospects hanging by a thread.

Nairobi City Stars 2-0 Gucha Stars

Meanwhile, Nairobi City Stars secured a vital 2-0 win over Gucha Stars at Gems Cambridge in a fixture with significant survival implications.

The victory ended a five-match winless run for City Stars, lifting them to 12th place on 37 points and easing immediate relegation fears.

Gucha Stars, however, saw their struggles continue, with the defeat extending their poor run to five matches.

Despite the setback, they retain a six-point cushion above the relegation zone, though their recent form raises concerns as the season edges closer to its conclusion.
