Former Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side FC Talanta will welcome Mully Children Family (MCF) to Ruaraka Grounds in a match that carries significant implications for both ends of the table
After Wednesday, 7 January, games that ushered in the New Year, with Soy United edging Equity FC 2-1 and Darajani Gogo and Gucha Stars settling for a barren draw, the National Super League (NSL) action resumes on Friday with a solitary fixture on the card.

Former Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side FC Talanta will welcome Mully Children Family (MCF) to Ruaraka Grounds in a match that carries significant implications for both ends of the table.
Backed by the Communications Authority of Kenya, Talanta will be eager to register a positive start to the year after closing out 2025 on a torrid run of form.
The Ruaraka-based side endured a four-match winless streak in December, a period that included consecutive defeats to Fortune Sacco (3-1) and Naivas FC (1-0).
Those results saw Talanta slip out of the top half of the standings, leaving them 13th on the 18-team log.
More concerningly, they now trail league leaders Migori Youth by ten points, with the summit side sitting on 29 points, a gap that threatens Talanta’s ambition of an immediate return to the FKF Premier League following their relegation at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Head coach Jackson Gatheru and his technical bench will be under pressure to arrest the slide as the league enters its decisive phase.
Victory on Friday would see Talanta move to 22 points, trimming the gap to Migori Youth to seven and breathing renewed belief into their promotion push.
Standing in Talanta’s path, however, is an MCF side desperate to rewrite a season defined by inconsistency.
The Machakos-based outfit has managed just four wins from 15 matches, alongside four draws and seven defeats, numbers that underline their struggles.
MCF also ended the year on a sour note, falling 1-0 to Darajani Gogo, and will be keen to respond positively under the stewardship of coach-cum-player Ezekiel Okere.

A major concern for MCF has been their poor away record, having registered only one win in eight outings, with four draws and three losses.
Improving that return will be central to their hopes of climbing away from danger.
Currently, MCF sits 16th on the table with 16 points, just two points above Kabati Youth in 17th and firmly entrenched in the relegation dogfight.
Although they hold a nine-point cushion over bottom-placed Mwatate United, the margin offers little comfort at this stage of the campaign.
Victory for MCF would lift them to 19 points, level with Soy United, reduce the gap to league leaders Migori Youth to ten points, and crucially inject momentum into their survival bid, while also keeping faint promotion hopes alive.
