NSL: Shabana feels the heat as going gets tough

Shabana FC are hanging precariously atop of the National Super League (NSL) table as the race for promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, (FKFPL) next season hots.

As the league approaches the first leg mark, Shabana is still at the helm with 26 points after 12 fixtures, however, should second placed Murang’a Seal register a victory in their pending match, then they will dethrone the legendary Gusii club.

The Sammy Okoth coached side looked unstoppable until three weeks ago when third placed Kibera Black Stars handed them their first defeat; a 1-0 loss on the road.

Rivals Gusii FC would inflict a further 1-0 defeat on Shabana at a fully packed Gusii Stadium to leave them gasping for breath.

Shabana’s last outing was a frustrating barren draw at Migori Youth FC on Saturday, but Sammy is of the opinion that their ship is still steady.

“It was not going to be smooth sailing throughout the season, but remain focused,” the coach said.

The former player went on to state that the second tier was competitive and every game counts.
