Both encounters promise close calls and do-or-die moments as teams chase glory and survival.

At the heart of Friday’s schedule is a mouthwatering clash at Marist Grounds, where joint-league leaders Mombasa United travel to face struggling Darajani Gogo FC.

The Mombasa-based outfit will be determined to make no mistakes as they aim to surge atop the 20-team table.

Coached by Gilbert Selebwa, United currently sit joint top with 40 points alongside Migori Youth.

Victory in this fixture will not only see them reclaim the summit but also open a three-point lead, putting them firmly on course for a maiden NSL championship and automatic promotion to the top flight.

United enter the clash on a four-match unbeaten run, having recorded wins over Kibera Black Stars (2-0), Vihiga United (3-1), Kabati Youth (1-0), and a commanding 4-0 victory over Kisumu All Stars, further seeing the Mombasa side reignite their similar strong start to the season.

Backed by the Shahbal Foundation, Mombasa United will be aiming to extend this impressive streak to five matches.

However, standing in their way is a Darajani Gogo side fighting for survival.

The loss of coach Andrew Ongwae to FKF Premier League side Shabana FC plunged the team into a poor run of form, struggling for consistency.

Delight for Gogo comes with the arrival of coach Kelly Ogutu, the youthful tactician who guided the side to a morale-boosting 2-2 draw against Mwatate United, earning their first point of the post-Ongwae era and halting a four-match losing streak.

Currently 14th with 22 points, just one above the relegation zone, Gogo face a critical test.

Ogutu will be desperate to engineer an upset and secure the side’s first win of the year, offering fans a much-needed lift as the battle for survival intensifies.

With Mombasa chasing the summit and Darajani scrambling to avoid the drop, this encounter promises to deliver thrilling football and high drama.

Vihiga United vs Nzoia Sugar FC

At Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Mamboleo, a western derby will be on the cards as relegation-threatened Vihiga United host Nzoia Sugar FC in a clash that could redefine both teams’ campaigns.

Vihiga United, coached by Milton Kidiga, sit 18th on the table with 18 points, facing a bleak future unless a late-season resurgence occurs.

Every point counts as they aim to stave off relegation and restore hope to their supporters.

Nzoia Sugar, the former FKF Premier League side, arrive in a bid to revive their slim promotion chase.

Currently 11th on 26 points, the Sudi-based outfit seeks to recover from back-to-back defeats to Gucha Stars (2-0) and fellow contenders Equity FC (1-0).

Coach Charles Odero will be keen to halt a four-match winless run, while Vihiga United will throw everything at the match in a desperate bid to climb out of the relegation mire.

With maximum points at stake, both Western sides have everything to play for in what is expected to be an intense, end-to-end clash where slim promotion ambitions collide with survival instincts, promising a thrilling contest for fans.
