NSL: Nairobi United return to action against bottom-placed Silibwet

Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 15.10.23. | 09:55

Other NSL games will see Mulembe FC host Mombasa Elite at the Mumias Sports Complex, while Kajiado FC will host Gusii FC at the Ildamat Stadium. Mathare United, on the other hand, will be in Mombasa to play the newly renamed Mombasa Stars.

Nairobi United will be back to action on Sunday afternoon after a two-week absence occasioned by a legal battle between Zoo FC and Football Kenya Federation over the ruling made by FKF’s Leagues and Competitions’ Committee touching on the abandoned playoff between the two teams in August.

United return to action after the federation obtained orders from the High Court. They will host Silibwet FC at the Utalii Grounds on Sunday afternoon as they seek to maintain their 100% record in the National Super League so far.

United have played two games and won both. They downed the Kibera Black Stars 2-0 in the opening game of the season before downing the Kisumu All-Stars by a similar scoreline in the second game. Silibwet, on the other hand, are struggling; they are winless this campaign with just one point and have lost their last three games, letting in 12 goals in the process, and can be said to be underdogs ahead of the game.

Nairobi United head coach Paul Okatwa is keen on getting all three points against Silibwet to regain their league momentum. “The goal is to get all the points, and we are going to do our best to achieve that. We had started well, but unfortunately, due to reasons beyond our control, we had to take a break from the league, and I just hope we can pick up from where we left off and get all the points,” he stated.

At the Kasarani Annex, Rainbow FC, seeking to end their three-game winless streak, will welcome Migori Youth FC in the first ever league meeting between the two teams.

Rainbow has just one win to their name. The other three games played this season have ended in two defeats and a draw. Migori are equally struggling. They have played four games, won one, drawn two, and lost one, and the match is one that both teams will be out to get maximum points from.
