The promotion-chasing coastal side ushers in a new chapter as they host Soy United, marking their first match since the departure of head coach Gilbert Selebwa

Action in the FKF National Super League (NSL) resumes on Sunday, 19 April with five captivating fixtures lined up, each carrying significant implications at both ends of the table as the season edges closer to its climax.

At the heart of the day’s action will be promotion-chasing sides Mombasa United and Fortune Sacco, who remain firmly in contention for a place in the top flight.

Meanwhile, the battle for survival will equally take center stage, with Kisumu All Stars, Mully Children’s Family (MCF), and Darajani Gogo all fighting to steer clear of the relegation trap.

At Mombasa Sports Club, Mombasa United usher in a new chapter as they host Soy United, marking their first match since the departure of head coach Gilbert Selebwa.

Now under the stewardship of Hamadi Said, the coastal side faces immediate pressure to respond following a setback against Kibera Black Stars.

Sitting second on 58 points, just three behind leaders Migori Youth, Mombasa United know that anything short of victory could dent their promotion ambitions.

A win would see them draw level at the summit, further intensifying the title race. However, with fellow contenders lurking closely behind, any slip-up could prove costly.

Encouragingly, the hosts boast a formidable home record, having secured 14 of their 19 wins on home soil, a statistic they will be keen to build on.

They will also be driven by a desire to avenge their narrow 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture at Eldoret Showground.

Speaking ahead of the clash, forward Fidel Madiela emphasized the team’s determination, saying; “We have worked hard to put ourselves in this position, but the job is not done. We have to stay focused and finish strong.”

Yet, Soy United present no easy challenge.

The Mozzart Bet-backed side, currently 10th on 39 points, will be eager to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Nzoia Sugar and push for a top-half finish.

Victory for coach Jeff Odongo’s men could lift them to eighth place, and they will be equally motivated to complete a league double over Mombasa United.

Elsewhere at Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea, Fortune Sacco return to action against Kisumu All Stars in another high-stakes encounter.

The Kirinyaga-based outfit, currently sixth, will be targeting maximum points to close the gap on the promotion places to five points, while still holding a game in hand.

A win would significantly bolster their promotion push, but any setback could derail their momentum with the season entering a decisive phase.

However, Kisumu All Stars arrive with their own agenda. Positioned 14th on 30 points, just three above the relegation zone, they are desperate for points to secure their status.

Having won the first-leg meeting, the lakeside outfit will be aiming to complete a double, while Fortune Sacco, under coach Vincent Nyaberi, seek redemption.

At Mumboha Grounds, Luanda Villa will host Kibera Black Stars in a fixture defined by contrasting ambitions.

Luanda Villa, under Leonard Swaleh, are enduring a difficult spell, having gone three matches without a win.

Hovering just two points above the drop zone, the hosts are in urgent need of a positive result to ease relegation fears.

Their task, however, is daunting. Kibera Black Stars, coached by Iddi Badi, are firmly in the promotion conversation with 45 points and will be eager to move closer to the automatic promotion slots.

With both sides chasing vastly different goals, the encounter promises intensity and high drama.

At Sudi Stadium, Nzoia Sugar will take on Darajani Gogo in another pivotal clash.

The former top-flight side will be aiming to build momentum following their recent win, as they target a respectable top-half finish after a campaign marked by inconsistency under coach Charles Odero.

For Darajani Gogo, the stakes are significantly higher.

Having ended a prolonged winless run last weekend under veteran coach Ken Kenyatta, the Kibera-based side will be aiming to secure back-to-back victories.

Victory would lift them to 30 points and create a crucial buffer from the relegation zone.

In the day’s other fixture, Mully Children’s Family will face FC Talanta in a clash that equally carries survival implications.

MCF will be desperate to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) as they seek to strengthen their bid for survival.

However, they come up against a Talanta side determined to finish the season strongly despite being mathematically out of the promotion race.
