NSL: Kajiado stun MCF to take control of the league as Elites stop Gusii FC

Kajiado FC took control of the National Super League (NSL) log after handing Mully Children Family FC a 2-0 defeat in a match staged at Iladamat Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Pumped by their opening game of the season win against Mulembe FC, the Mohammed Hamisi-led team took control of the clash in front of the home fans, and despite struggling for an opening goal in the first stanza, the Kajiado-based team fired two past the Yatta-based club in the second half.

Youngster Brian Lotsire and Ayubu Twaha were once on the score sheet to affirm their team's top-of-the-table status, at least temporarily ahead of the Sunday matches.

Mombasa Elite 1-0 Gusii FC

In Mombasa, Patrick Nyale charges bounced back from their season opening game thumping by Luanda Villa with a laboured one-nil win over Gusii FC in a match played at Mbaraki Sports Complex, courtesy of Rajab Hassan's 40th-minute header.

Naivas 1-1 Luanda Villa

At Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, newly promoted side Luanda Villa rallied from behind to Eliud Lokuwan's first half goal for the hosts to maintain their unbeaten strike since the elevation from the third tier.

SS Assad 2-0 Rainbow FC

At Ukunda Showgrounds, the Eric Macharia-led Rainbow tasted their first defeat of the second tier as they succumbed to a two-nil loss to the hosts, despite a spirited first-half push from the Nairobi-based club.

Alex Mwalimu Kazungu opened his goal account for the Sea Lions in the 78th minute before another transfer window addition, Lazo Nongela, doubled the hosts lead in the 88th minute to take the game far from the debutants reach.

Silibwet Leons 0-2 Kibera Black Stars

Silibwet Leons suffered the first defeat of the season in front of the home fans as Michael Owen and Richdonald Bolo strikes handed the Kibera Black Stars their first points of the NSL 2023–24 campaign.

Elsewhere, Darajani Gogo failed to win their second consecutive match as they shared spoils against the rebranded Mombasa Stars, formerly Coastal Heroes, in a match played at Hope Centre, Nairobi.
