Not so modest – Rooney claims he's better than all of them

Wayne Rooney has caused quite a stir online after boldly backing himself in a “winner stays on” showdown featuring some of football’s biggest names.

In a clip that’s gone viral on X, racking up nearly seven million views, the former Manchester United star was challenged to pick between himself and a lineup of elite strikers — one by one — until only one remained.

Names like Luis Suarez, Harry Kane, Neymar, and Erling Haaland were thrown into the mix. But Rooney, never short on self-belief, stood firm and chose himself every single time.

Even legends such as Alessandro Del Piero, Sergio Aguero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Robert Lewandowski couldn’t sway him. The man in the black turtleneck kept brushing them aside with confidence — and just a hint of cheek.

“These are tough, by the way!” he admitted at one point, grinning as he made his decisions. While he did pause for thought when facing Neymar, Aguero, Lewandowski, and Haaland, in the end, he crowned himself the undisputed winner.

The internet had plenty to say. Reactions ranged from disbelief to admiration.

"These are tough" and he's picking himself," one user pointed out, clearly unimpressed. Another chimed in: "Bro thinks he's better than Neymar, Suarez, Zlatan, Lewa, Haaland" — complete with a crying laughing emoji.

A third added, "No way he's better than Suarez and Neymar, tho? Not even close to Neymar."
