Erling Haaland did the job again as the Premier League holders drew 1-1 with the Reds
When Erling Haaland's on your team, you're already 1-0 up in games. It's what the stats say, and it's what our eyes can see. The Norwegian destroyer has become the player to reach the 50-goal mark in the Premier League the quickest, as he made it 50 strikes in 48 games. The fact that he achieved such an impressive feat in the big game with title rivals Liverpool makes it even sweeter for the blonde assassin.
But there are 21 more players on the pitch - and even though one player can carry their team at times, he's just one of the parts in a complex system. On Saturday afternoon, the visitors from Liverpool showed they've also got some influential players who can make the difference. Liverpool boy Trent Alexander-Arnold scored ten minutes before the end of the regulatory 90 to give his team a credible point and keep them in the title race.

First chance arose in the 12th minute due to a mistake from Alisson. Phil Foden intercepted his poor pass from the back near the box. Foden attempted a shot after a couple of touches, but his effort lacked power and was gathered comfortably by the Brazilian goalkeeper.
The Reds created their first significant chance when a combination play between Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah led to the Egyptian crossing from the right to find Nunez, whose header forced a good one-handed save from Ederson.
Haaland put Manchester City in the lead with his 50th Premier League goal in just 48 matches just inside the opening half-hour. A poor clearance by Alisson led City to counter through Nathan Ake. The Dutch defender, displaying excellent footwork, set up Haaland, who clinically found the net. It's what the Norwegian has been doing since he joined City from Borussia Dortmund.

The visitors had their chances, too. Ten minutes before the break, a lapse in concentration by Manuel Akanji gifted the ball to Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian fed Nunez, but the angle was unfavourable, and the former Benfica hitman hit the side netting. Let us just remember that there were people who claimed Darwin was better than Haaland. They must feel pretty silly now.
Approaching the half-time break, City increased the pressure, and Foden's long-range effort was brilliantly tipped onto the post by Alisson.

Although the second half wasn't quite as dynamic, there were still chances on either end. With just over ten minutes to go, Haaland had a goal-bound shot expertly stopped by Allison. It was a great chance to settle the game, but Alisson kept his team in the game. That save looked even more precious less than a minute later when Trent Alexander-Arnold found the low corner of Ederson's net with a surgically precise shot to make it 1-1. The versatile defender-cum-midfielder celebrated the equalizer by shooshing the home crowd.

The additional eight minutes failed to give us a winner, so Arsenal will have a chance to reach the top of the table by the end of the day! This season's title race in England will be an even wilder ride than the last!
