Nomen est omen: Rodrygo Goes away from Madrid?

The Brazilian is going through the most challenging period since he joined Real Madrid and is seriously considering leaving Santiago Bernabeu

Three years ago, he was having the time of his life in Madrid, scoring vital goals in the Champions League semi-finals against Man City and becoming one of the heroes of Los Blancos' UCL campaign alongside Vinicius Jr and the unstoppable Karim Benzema.

Nevertheless, the tables have seriously turned for Real Madrid's Brazilian, as his form from the previous two years seems like a hollow dream at the moment. Yes, Rodrygo scored 13 goals this season, but as the campaign is nearing its end, his performances are gradually getting worse.

In the last three months, he found the net once and made three assists, meaning that Carlo Ancelotti's team is playing the key part of the season without any help from the forward.

Additionally, he scored his last goal 58 days ago, and while Kylian Mbappe, Vini Jr, and Jude Bellingham are carrying Madrid in the La Liga title race, Rodrygo's role is minimal and almost non-existent.

From one of the vital players in Los Blancos' machinery, Rodrygo has become completely irrelevant. Moreover, the team has often been doing better without him, and with "understudies" like Brahim Diaz, Endrick, or Arda Guler instead.

All this has hinted at parting ways, and according to Marca, the 24-year-old is seriously considering this option, as he's (deservedly) been out of the spotlight for some time.

The Spanish paper further claims that Rodrygo's stay at Santiago Bernabeu shouldn't yet be ruled out, but only if Ancelotti's likely successor, Xabi Alonso, convinces him that he needs him and persuades him to stick to Madrid.

Otherwise, another promising "love story" between Real Madrid and a Brazilian - just remember Ronaldo Nazario, Roberto Carlos, Casemiro, and Marcelo - may be over, but this time in a disappointing way.
