With a goal and an assist, the former Los Blancos player was the most deserved of Betis' first victory over Real Madrid after five years - 2-1

Francisco Roman Alarcon Suarez, a.k.a. Isco, has yet to say his final word! Since he left Real Madrid two and a half years ago, he's been far from the spotlight, considered forgotten and "washed out." Well, the 32-year-old tonight proved that a career does not end with the departure from Santiago Bernabeu and returned to haunt his former club, as he recorded a goal and an assist in Real Betis' 2-1 triumph over Los Blancos, their first since March 2020!

Madrid did break the deadlock ten minutes into the game through Brahim Diaz, but following the opener, the visitors were far from dangerous and Betis knew how to exploit it. First, he ideally found Johnny Cardoso in the box from a corner in the 34th minute and then easily converted a penalty for a comeback 20 minutes later, setting the final score.

Betis are not the first and only team to beat Madrid, but Los Blancos were usually the better crew on the pitch, regardless of the outcome. Well, tonight, Betis were dominant in possession, attempts, corner kicks, big chances, etc. And that doesn't happen often.

Apart from Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid, Girona, and Real Sociedad all tried to conquer Estadio Benito Villamarin this season, and all of them failed! From that perspective, Madrid's defeat might not be that surprising after all.
