The Spanish custodian will remain at the Emirates after the loan expires
If this summer there were those who doubted that Arsenal would buy David Raya after the end of his loan, after everything seen in the previous part of the season, there are fewer and fewer of them. The Spanish goalkeeper has lived up to Mikel Arteta's expectations and according to Fabrizio Romano, the North London club has decided to keep him permanently at the Emirates.
A large number of clubs showed interest in Raya last summer, many were even ready to immediately buy him from Brentford, but the Spaniard expressed his desire to continue his career at Arsenal, in order, among other things, to continue his cooperation with Inaki Cana, the goalkeeper coach with whom he previously worked with at the Community Stadium. However, in order not to violate Financial Fair Play, the Gunners could only bring Raya on a loan with a buyout option. Fortunately, they found an understanding with Brentford, the city rival made a deal, and the two parties settled on 31,000,000 euros.
Brentford's sporting director, Phil Giles, emphasized that both parties wanted the transfer to become permanent as soon as possible, thus hinting at an epilogue with which all parties would be satisfied. Especially Brentford, as it will be their second-biggest sale in the club's history.
As Fabrizio Romano further states, Arsenal not only made the decision to buyout Raya, but they have already agreed on a multi-year cooperation with the Spanish goalkeeper, which should start next summer.

Raya arrived from west London in mid-August and soon completely replaced Aaron Ramsdale from the starting line-up. Ever since he took a stand between the posts in the fifth round of the Premier League against Everton, the Spaniard has defended in every league game, while remaining on the bench only in the League Cup matches against Brentford and West Ham.
