No bars, no booze, no parties: Ben Yedder is ready to give up everything to avoid jail

Former Monaco striker, 34, is going through tough times and is willing to go to alcohol rehabilitation to avoid pretrial detention

Wissam Ben Yedder was arrested on September 7 and charged with sexual assault while intoxicated. He was later released, but a hearing is scheduled for October 15, as the Nice public prosecutor's office decided to appeal his release.

According to a report by L'Equipe, the 34-year-old former Monaco forward who is currently a free agent has suggested that he would be willing to go to alcohol rehabilitation to avoid pretrial detention.

He said that yesterday during the hearing on the matter.

"I'm making an effort, I hope to cure myself of this situation," said the former French international. "To stop for good is the best solution to cure myself. I've always pointed out and I've always been there when justice called on me."

In order to avoid pretrial detention, Ben Yedder reportedly stated that he was respecting all the terms of his judicial supervision: twice-weekly check-ins, a ban on attending bars or nightclubs, a ban on leaving his home between 8 pm. and 6 am, and an obligation to undergo treatment.

A decision on whether Ben Yedder will be detained ahead of his trial will be made on Thursday morning.
