Nketiah and Chambers send Arsenal to the EFL cup 1/4 final, Chelsea save their pride through penalties

Unlike their West London counterparts (Chelsea), Arsenal had no mercy for tonight's underdogs. Two second-half goals, coming from Calum Chambers and Eddie Nketiah in the span of 11 minutes, sealed the Gunners' victory.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa decided to leave his top players Raphinha and Bamford at home to have a rest before the upcoming Premier League fixtures.

With just a single goal-scoring opportunity for the entire 90 minutes, the visitors were, however, able not to concede before the second period. And who knows what could have happened if it wasn't for that corner kick 13 minutes after the break. Chambers' header went just inches across the goal-line, and it was 1-0 on the scoreboard.

Nketiah, of Ghanian descent, doubled the lead soon. He had to just tap the ball into an empty net from close range but almost missed it.

Satisfied with a two-goal lead, Arteta's boys brought the game to an end and secured themselves a spot in the quarter-finals.

On the other hand, Chelsea were suffering against the die-hard Southampton side, which managed to hold on to a draw despite Kai Havertz's opener late in the first half. Still, the favourites reached the next round thanks to a much better penalty shootout.

Reece James scored the decisive penalty and sent his slot to the last 16 round of the EFL Cup.
