Umar Sadiq joins Valencia, who are on the verge of relegation from the Spanish top division

Umar Sadiq is definitely a one-of-a-kind player whose incredible highs and strange lows have been omnipresent in La Liga for quite some time.

The 27-year-old Nigerian striker is about to make his Valencia debut on Tuesday night in the Copa del Rey clash against Eldense, as he joined the bats a few days ago from Real Sociedad.

The African forward is well aware of the fact that his biggest challenge will be to help La Liga strugglers to survive in the top division.

"When I spoke with club officials, I realized that Valencia and I have a lot in common. We share the same hunger. Because of the situation at the club, there is a lot of desire to succeed; that was one of the motives for coming because I am always hungry for goals. We have been in contact for three weeks. Valencia is one of the biggest clubs in Spain, and we have a common motive for growing," Sadiq added.

"It is true that Valencia is not in a normal position. However, this team shows desire, it was seen against Real Madrid recently, we were not even lucky".

The Nigerian is aware of what coach Carlos Corberan will ask of him.

"We talked and he explained what he wants from me. He wants us all to fight. That's the mission, to fight for Valencia. The most important thing is to concentrate on teamwork. I didn't have the desired continuity at Sociedad. The coaches make decisions, which I respect, but I have to do what is best for me. I wish all the best for Sociedad," says Sadiq, who claims that he is now at "one hundred percent fit" after a knee injury that caused him a lot of problems.
