The Brazilian couldn't care less about the supporters' discontent

There's a surreal atmosphere surrounding Paris Saint-Germain these days. Even though they have just secured the title and proved that they are the best team in the country, the hard-core fans of the Parisian club never stopped booing and whistling at their team on the night they mathematically secured the Ligue 1 title.

To create even more of a statement, the Virage Auteuil group of ultras left the Parc des Princes stands early and celebrated the title outside the stadium.

PSG crashed out of the Champions League in the round of 16 after that dramatic Madrid capitulation. The PSG faithful have still not managed to let this go. Neymar, Messi, Mbappe and company have been on the receiving end of boos and whistles from their own fans at the Parc des Princes.

Brazilian superstar Neymar is probably the least popular figure among the fans right now. He's being targeted the most because he often went missing when the team needed him the most. He was booed by the home supporters every time he touched the ball. But doesn't seem to be affected by it. The PSG's super-rich owners are paying him insane amounts of money - and he's got thick skin.

"It was surreal that part of the crowd left the stands. They will get tired of whistling because I have another three years left on my contract. The atmosphere is a shame. Football is our passion. We try to enjoy ourselves as much as possible. It's a shame that we can't celebrate with the fans, but that's something we will have to overcome."

While forward Kylian Mbappe insisted that it was only a minority of fans, it was clear what something is deeply wrong at the club.

"I'm not disappointed, if they the ultras want to celebrate, they can do so. They don't want to - it's up to them. The crowd was here. It's a minority who left, and they're not representative of all of the supporters but rather a minority. The stadium was full. We celebrated amongst ourselves in the dressing room. All that was missing was the cup. I'm savouring it."
