Speaking shortly after his unveiling in Nairobi on Monday, midfielder Roy Okal described his switch from Sofapaka FC as a proud moment, stressing his desire to win trophies with the ambitious side under head coach Nicholas Muyoti. The versatile player can also slot in defence.
“It is a great feeling to sign for such an ambitious club. I am ready to take up the challenge,” Okal said. “As a player, you always want to win trophies.
Nairobi United won a trophy to earn promotion, and I want to add more success here. I will step up, work hard, and continue improving as a player.”
Okal brings vast top-flight experience to Nairobi United, having previously featured for Sony Sugar, Gor Mahia, Mathare United and Ushuru FC, and is expected to play a key role in anchoring the team’s midfield as they compete on multiple fronts.
Unveiled alongside him was left-footed winger Njuguna, who joins the club from Tusker FC. The player missed the first phase of the season after cutting ties with the Brewers.
Njuguna also shared his excitement, pointing to the opportunity for continental football as a major factor in his decision.
“It feels nice to be here,” Njuguna said. “The chance to play continental football is something I considered before joining, and I am looking forward to contributing to the team.”

Confirming the double signing, Nairobi United expressed confidence in the impact the two players will have as the club seeks stability and success both domestically and on the continental stage.
“Twice the talent, double the threat. We are delighted to announce the signings of Roy Okal and John Njuguna. Roy adds experience and control to midfield, while Njuguna brings creativity and fire to our attacking play.”
The signings come at a crucial time as Muyoti’s side looks to perform well in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they reached the group stage, defend the Mozzart Bet Cup, and push for the league title, which is the team’s main objective this season.
