New boss James should teach them how to shoot - Rossoneri fire blanks in Sassuolo draw

Ruling champions were miles away from victory. Maignan even saved them from defeat by saving a first-half penalty

The latest news of LeBron James indirectly buying AC Milan didn't affect Rossoneri, or at least they didn't feel the urge to show their new owner how good they are.

Instead, the Serie A holders have to settle with a disappointing goalless draw, 0-0, at Sassuolo. It was only the second time in the last nine years that those two fire blanks when facing each other.

The hosts were even closer to winning after they were rewarded with a penalty twenty minutes into the game, but brilliant Rossoneri keeper Maignan managed to deny Berardi's attempt and keep the clean sheet.

On the other end, Silvio Pioli's slot was unconvincing in the attack, which forced him to make lots of changes in the second half. However, Giroud, Leao, Messias, and De Ketelaere couldn't find the back of the net, let alone dominate the underdogs and bag a landslide victory.

A hectic finish brought nine minutes of added time, but more than 100 minutes of football were not enough for the favourites to celebrate their third win in the four opening rounds.
