Muhoroni Youth defender Kelly Wesonga has assured that his club will resume league matches this weekend hungry for success after enduring difficulties in the rounds preceding the FIFa International break.

Muhoroni and AFC Leopards have won a game in the opening eleven rounds of the season, putting their image and top-flight status at risk.

The Charles Odera-coached side last won on September 29, beating four-time league winners Ulinzi Stars 1-0 at their backyard courtesy of Collins Neto's penalty.

Since then, the club has been struggling to get positive results, with the best they have managed being two draws against the Kariobangi Sharks and Murang'a Seal.

Wesonga said the club was banking on the training sessions they have been having in the last week and a couple of days to turn their season around.

The central defender said the team maximized the time to work on all departments that he noted were underwhelming in past matches.

"People will see a different Muhoroni this weekend. We have been working hard since the time we played our last fixture. The technical bench has been busy pushing us to improve in different aspects, and I believe we will start getting good results," said Wesonga.

Wesonga also promised to inspire the club to get to the top half of the table before the first leg of the season ends.

"We will be among the top ten teams before the end of the first leg," he pledged.

Muhoroni are scheduled to play defending champions Gor Mahia on Saturday in Kisumu, a game that will see Wesonga face his former employer.

The defender, who can also play as a right back, challenged his teammates to make Muhoroni Grounds a fortress and win as many matches as possible in front of home fans.

"We shouldn't be dropping points at home. The safest way of marching out of the red zone is by collecting points at home," said the former Western Stima player.
