Napoli's talisman McTominay nets brace to preserve Conte's unbeaten run against Inter

Nerazzurri were close to crushing the defending champions, but the former Manchester United midfielder had different plans (2-2)

Napoli have not lost a game in which Scott McTominay has scored a goal since joining them from Manchester United.

Napoli head coach, Antonio Conte, has not lost a game against Inter Milan since the beginning of his coaching career.

When you put those two facts together, it's no surprise the Partenopei managed to grab a point against the Nerazzurri on Sunday night (2-2).

Ex-United midfielder scored a brace, thus proving once again that his transfer to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium was a sensational move.

He is thriving under Conte's tutelage, creating Napoli's offensive game, while also covering numerous defensive tasks, and above all, scoring goals.

That is precisely what he did last night at San Siro, denying Inter Milan's effort to snatch a critical Serie A victory.

Dimarco put the hosts in front after a wonderful three-piece action early on, but McTominay restored the stalemate around the 20th-minute mark.

The home side was adamant, though, eager to widen the gap between them and Napoli in the Serie A table and continue their impressive series of victories.

Christian Chivu's men missed a handful of chances along the way, but still managed to restore the lead through Hakan Calhanoglou's second-half penalty.

This decision - made by a referee following a VAR review - infuriated Antonio Conte, who was shown a red card for his aggressive criticism of officials.

Alas, even without their boss, the visitors were able to strike back, as McTominay transformed into an attacking beast in the rival's box to equalise again, 2-2.

This high-intense drama eventually ended in a deserved draw, as Inter stay at the top with 43 points, three more than their city rival, AC Milan, with Napoli being a point behind the Rossoneri in third place.
