The Nakuru-based side got promoted to the premier league this season alongside Ulinzi Starlets and SEP Ladies from Oyugis

Women Premier League (WPL) side Nakuru West Queens bettered their chances of featuring in the playoff, on their premier league debut, after beating Kisumu All Starlets 3-1 as the league made a return on Saturday, May 22.

Mercyline Wayodi opened the scoring for the visitors in the16th minute in the match played at the Nakuru Show Grounds but Fanis Kwamboka leveled the score nine minutes later. Stella Odhiambo doubled the lead for the hosts in the 31st minute for the match to head to the breather with Nakuru holding the slight advantage. Emily Wanjala slotted in late for a 81st minute winner to put the match out Kisumu's reach.

The win takes Nakuru to second on the log at 21 points, seven behind leaders Vihiga Queens and two ahead of third placed Wadadia. The two sides will be in action on Sunday, 23 May. A win for Wadadia who take on Oserian in Mumias takes them back to second at 22 points.

Meanwhile, zone A leaders Thika Queens extended their lead and unbeaten run to 33 points and 11 matches respectively. Up against Makolanders who are highly unlikely to survive relegation, the former champions put four past them in a 4-1 outcome.

Thika's win takes them nine points clear of Ulinzi Starlets. The soldiers picked the biggest win of the day, a 6-1 win over Mathare Women to go to 24 points.

In another zone A match, varsity side Zetech Sparks beat Kayole Starlet 5-2 to surpass the Eastlands-based side to fourth place at 14 points.
