The league is in its penultimate round with the playoff slated for from June 19.

The fight for Women Premier League (WPL) zone B's third-place continues as third placed Nakuru host Wadadia at the Nakuru Show Grounds while Kisumu All Starlets host leaders Vihiga Queens at Moi Stadium, Kisumu..

Three teams, Kisumu, Nakuru and Trans-Nzoia Falcons are fighting for the final slot to the playoffs with Vihiga and Wadadia having secured the top two slots. Falcons beat Oserian Ladies 6-2 on Saturday, 5 June, to move forth, a point behind Nakuru.

A win for Nakuru against the second-placed Wadadia moves them closer to sealing the slot ahead of their final match against SEP Ladies.

Kisumu, on their part, have an uphill task as they face the holders who have gone unbeaten the entire season, picking just one draw away to Nakuru. Coach Alex Alumira, assured of a playoff slot, is using the remaining regular league matches as part of his team's preparations for the playoffs as well as the inaugural CAF Women’s champions league.

"We are not in a good place as some of our players are unwell. In the last match against Falcons I missed the services of Vivian Wanjiru, Ann Ogunge and Teresia Nyaloti who had to sit out as they were unwell to play and are yet to recover. I have others who have fallen ill in the last week but we have the team doctor who will advise on who we can field and who has to be left out. We did not have the best training this week but we will honour the match and do the best with the squad that will be cleared to play," said Kisumu coach Juma Said.

Meanwhile, in zone A, leaders Thika Queens are looking to keep their unbeaten run going when they face relegation-battling Kibera Soccer Ladies. Thika have already sealed their playoff semis slot by finishing top of the zone's log. Initial communication from the league organisers indicate that the top team in each zone will be given a bye to the semis.

In another match, Zetech Sparks, who have survived relegation rake on Mathare Women who will be playing in the lower division next season. Mathare have managed one win and one draw, losing ten matches in the 12 rounds and are looking to finish the league strongly despite having been relegated already.
