FKF Division 1 side Nakuru Bucks have come out to clarify on their reported planned wide berth of the highly anticipated match against Gucha Stars.

The two teams are scheduled to meet each other on Friday, 26 September, in a replay match that is set to determine which team, between Gucha and Soy United gets promoted to the National Super League (NSL).

The replay is part of the orders that the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) issued in the matter of the dispute between Gucha Stars and FKF.

Online reports on Thursday, 25 September suggested that Nakuru Bucks are planning to boycott the match, allegations that have now been refuted by Bucks director Charles Kinyanjui.

“Nothing is confirmed yet. From the onset, I want to state clearly that our intention is to go to the match as the rules of the game and fair play demands,” Kinyanjui told Mozzart Sport.

As of Thursday night, Bucks were yet to travel to Nairobi for the fixture which is supposed to be staged at the Ulinzi Sports Complex a matter that Kinyanjui said is due to a pending correspondence with FKF

“There are a few issues that we are waiting for FKF to clarify so that we can give the match the respect it deserves and once that is done, we will honor the match.

For instance, we have not been furnished with the rules of the match including which players to use; whether only last season’s players are eligible or even the new signings can play,” added Kinyanjui.

While Kinyanjui was coy on the matter, online reports indicate that the team also wants FKF to cater for the cost of the match.

“We understand that this matter is contentious and the game has high stakes, and that is why we are seeking clarification on some issues,” he said.

Additionally, Kinyanjui also took time to dismiss claims that his team might have been compromised to forfeit the match.

“At this point in time, it is expected that there will be allegations all over which are actually not surprising but there is nothing of that sort. Our image as a club is even bigger than the match itself.”
