The move signals the ambitious Naibois’ determination to challenge for the league title while bolstering their squad for continental and domestic competitions.

The former Armée Patriotique Rwandaise (APR) playmaker joins the Naibois as a free agent after parting ways with Police FC last October. The club confirmed the arrival of the 31-year-old through their official social media platforms, describing him as a creative force capable of unlocking stubborn defences.

“We are thrilled to announce the signing of Rwandan international playmaker Muhadjiri Hakizimana,” read part of the club statement.

Nairobi United further hailed Hakizimana as a proven chance creator, warning opponents of the threat he brings to the league.

“A master of vision, a creator of goals and a man who knows exactly how to unlock the tightest defences. The streets of Nairobi are about to witness a new level of artistry,” the statement added.

Hakizimana boasts vast experience across several clubs, having previously featured for Etincelles, Kiyovu, Mukura Victory, Armée Patriotique Rwandaise (APR), Emirates, AS Kigali, Police FC and Saudi Arabia’s Al Kholood.

At the international level, he made his debut for Rwanda on 3rd November 2016 during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scoring his first goal in a one-all draw against Ghana.

During the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, he found the net in both legs as Rwanda secured back-to-back victories over Seychelles.

His agent Allan Tumu described Hakizimana as an exciting addition not only for Nairobi United but for the FKF Premier League as a whole, likening his style of play to that of Brazilian star Neymar.

“He is in the mould of Neymar; he creates many chances and scores as well. He can play as a number ten or out wide, and he is a player Nairobi United and Kenyan football fans will enjoy watching because he is exciting.

Overall, he is a great addition to the league, and players of his calibre make the competition more entertaining,” said Tumu.

Hakizimana becomes the latest addition to Nairobi United’s growing arsenal.

The club has already secured the services of John Njuguna from Tusker FC, Roy Okal from Sofapaka FC, and Ugandan left back Mustafa Kizza as they prepare for the second leg of the season, where they aim to challenge for the league title, defend the Mozzart Bet Cup and make an impact in the CAF Confederation Cup.
