Kenya is set to host the regional tournament between November 25 and December 9
Nairobi United centre back Daniel Bichok will skipper the South Sudan team in the CECAFA U18 boy’s tournament.
Kenya is set to host the regional tournament between November 25 and December 9, as well as the Zonal qualifiers for the Pan-African Schools Championship later in the year.
Despite being 16, Bichok has amassed wealth of experience as he was part of the South Sudan U20 team that played in the Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt between February 19 to March 11.
Bichok shot to the limelight more when he landed the chance to train with Turkish giants Antalyaspor in July.
Bichok isn’t new to the Kenyan terrain, as he began playing football at the Kakuma Refugee Camp before joining Division One Zone A outfit Ruiru Hotstars.
He later joined Nairobi, who were promoted to the second tier after edging Zoo FC in the promotion/relegation playoff.
“I can’t wait to captain and represent my country in the tournament. It is an honour for me to be picked as the team’s captain. I am looking forward to using the experience I have gained while playing in Kenya in the tournament and helping my country win it,” he told Mozzart Sport.
The former Ruiru Boys High School student has been playing a crucial role in Nairobi United’s good start in the Super League, as the debutants are yet to lose a game.
Only Nairobi United and Luanda Villa are yet to taste defeat seven rounds into the new season.
Villa were promoted after winning the Division One Zone B competition.
Bichok is managed by Knuckleball Sports, an agency that is associated with revered Kenyan coach Sos Kisukwa Lukio, who tutors the West Ham Youth team in England.
