To manage congestion and redirect motorists, the county has provided alternative routes.

With the much-anticipated 2024 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) set to kick off this weekend, the Nairobi County traffic department has released an official traffic update to facilitate smooth movement across the capital, especially on Sunday, 3 August, when Kenya face off against DRC Congo at Kasarani before Angola and Morocco square off at Nyayo Stadium.

According to a statement seen by Mozzart Sport, key road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented to ease the flow of participating teams, officials, and fans as the month-long continental showpiece gets underway.

Among the affected roads is Aerodrome Road, where the stretch between Madaraka Roundabout and Bunyala Roundabout will be fully closed.

Langata Road will also be affected, with the section between Madaraka Roundabout and Lusaka Roundabout closed on one side.

Similarly, a partial closure will be enforced on Mombasa Road, affecting the stretch between Lusaka Roundabout and Bunyala Roundabout.

To manage congestion and redirect motorists, the county has provided alternative routes.

Motorists using Mombasa Road are advised to divert via Likoni Enterprise Road near General Motors or utilize the Southern Bypass at Ole Sereni.

Those traveling from Langata Road into the Central Business District (CBD) are encouraged to use Raila Odinga Road or Muhoho Road at Mbagathi Roundabout.

Motorists heading from the CBD towards Thika, Juja, and Thika Road are advised to opt for Limuru Road or Kiambu Road.

Matatus ferrying fans to Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, will use Ruaraka Baba-Dogo Road and Ngomongo Road, joining up at Ngomongo Roundabout.

Those approaching from Thika Road should consider using either the Eastern Bypass, Kiambu Road, or Limuru Road.

The Harambee Stars will headline Group A action, which features former champions DRC Congo and Morocco, with Angola and Zambia completing the five-team pool.

Kenya will begin their campaign against Congo on Sunday, 3 August, followed by fixtures against Angola (Thursday, 7 August at 7 PM), Morocco (Sunday, 10 August at 3 PM), and Zambia (Sunday, 17 August at 3 PM).

The tournament will conclude on Saturday, 30 August, with the final and official closing ceremony set to take place at the iconic Moi Kasarani Stadium.
