The former Wazito goalkeeper has not featured for Simba wa Nairobi this season

Nairobi City Stars goalkeeper Stephen Njung'e is confident that coach Nicholas Muyoti will consider him for playing time when the Football Kenya Federation Premier League resumes this weekend after a brief break.

Njung'e who played all matches for City Stars last season hasn't tasted playing time this season as Muyoti has been preferring Jacob Osano in between the sticks.

The custodian whose performance in the last term saw him grace the podium in the end of season awards had earlier welcomed the decision by Muyoti to bench in order to rest after playing a basketful of matches says he is looking forward to returning to the starting team.

The former Wazito glove man who will be hoping to be fielded when they tackle Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday said he had enjoyed sufficient rest and had fully grasped Muyoti's philosophy.

Simba Nairobi will be hoping to slay Sharks and move to two points within the reach of Kakamega Homeboyz who are set to take on Nzoia Sugar.

"Time is ripe for me to get back to the starting team. I am hoping that I will get back to the team when the second leg gets underway this weekend. I have had good time to learn from my colleague and understand what the coach wants done right in the goalkeeping department. I have also used the time to rest considering that I played all matches last season, "he said.

Meanwhile, Njung'e is glad to have recovered from a finger injury that saw him completely sit out of the last three matches.

His injury turned a blessing in disguise to Elvis Ochoro who had the opportunity to be named on the bench for the time he was sidelined.

He missed the back to back draws against league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz and their 2-1 win over debutants FC Talanta.
