Simba wa Nairobi are set to recruit new players in the coming weeks

Goalkeepers Jacob Osano and Steve Njung’e are among the seven players who have left Nairobi City Stars.

The Kawangware based club revealed the list of the players who will no longer be part of the team heading to the new season on Tuesday.

Other players whose departure was confirmed by the club include; centre back Kennedy Onyango, left back Herit Mungai, veteran forward Ezekiel Odera and Salim ‘Shitu’ Abdallah.

Anthony ‘Muki’ Kimani, who hanged up his boots last month was also drafted in the list of players who have left the club.

It is not clear whether the veteran midfielder who has a CAF D coaching license will fully transition into tutoring players at the competitive level.

Onyango has already signed at Gor Mahia while Mungai who can also play as a wing back trained with Ulinzi Stars on Tuesday.

Shitu, and Odera were suspended at the start of the month by the Football Kenya Federation integrity wing over match-fixing allegations.

With Onyango who is popularly known as Vidic gone, City Stars have two central defenders; Timothy Muganda and Edwin Buliba.

The exit of Osano and Njung’e leaves Simba wa Nairobi with one goalkeeper in Elvis Ochoro who joined the club in September 2020.

Despite being at the club for two seasons, Ochoro hasn’t seen regular playing time due to the competition he faced from Osano and Njung’e.

The development means that City Stars will have to sign at least two goalkeepers so as to plug in the gaps left by the two custodians.
