KCB have scored two goals this season
KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala is seeking to sharpen the forward line ahead of their weekend duel against Bandari in Nairobi.
Mwalala made the admission after watching his charges taste defeat last weekend, where they fell 2-1 to Kariobangi Sharks at the Kasarani Annex.
Goals from Geoffrey Onyango and Stanley Wilson won the game for Sharks, with Francis Kahiro getting the consolation for KCB.
The former Kenyan international noted that the team played way better than they did in the season’s opener against AFC Leopards, but making the chances created count proved a challenge.
The bankers kicked off the season with a 1-0 win over Leopards but couldn’t make it two out of two as they lost to Sharks prompting Mwalala to open on the team’s achilles heel in the game.
“We need to work more on our final third. I noted improvement in our second game against Sharks but we couldn’t use our chances effectively. In football, you have to use your chances, and, in this regard, there is a lot to work on,” said the former Kakamega Homeboyz gaffer.
The former Nzoia Sugar tactician also noted a similar problem against Ingwe where they won maximum points courtesy of Derrick Otanga’s second half strike.
With Bandari, who recovered from a false start to register back-to-back wins, lying in wait, Mwalala will hope the week-long training drills will work to the team’s advantage.
Bandari lost the opening round 1-0 to Tusker before beating Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars by identical 1-0 scorelines in rounds two and three, respectively.
Mwalala joined KCB in July, succeeding Zedekiah Otieno, who left the club upon the expiration of his contract.
