Mike Mururi is adamant that Vihiga United will not be relegated this season
Vihiga United Head Coach Mike Mururi moved to keep morale high among his charges after Thursday's loss to defending FKFPL champions Gor Mahia.
Vihiga went down 1-0 towards the end of the first half courtesy of a Clifton Miheso deflected strike but coach Mururi is not fazed by the loss.

Speaking after the game, the former Kakamega Homeboyz and Sofapaka coach said that his team had a decent display against the defending champions.
Mururi added that he is confident that Vihiga United will not be relegated this season despite being just one place above the drop zone.
"The boys played well. they showed a lot of potential. I have no worries that the team will be relegated. The team will remain in the top flight," he said
The former Kenyan international said that they were the better team against Gor Mahia, saying that K'Ogalo did not create chances in the game.

"We had a good game. I don't think Gor Mahia created chances in this game. We scored an own goal via a deflection after some mishap, something that we will work on," Mururi noted.
On his team's fitness, the tactician said that they are still far from where he wants them to be, noting that they are working on that progressively. He blamed the lack of fitness on the lengthy hiatus occasioned by Covid-19 related measures.

"Covid has contributed a lot to the lack of fitness. The fitness level of the players is not where I would want it to be. But they are giving their all and I am happy. They have shown me they are capable and moving forward I see there will be good things to come." he said.
Vihiga United are currently 15th with 12 points, same as Western Stima who sit 16th. However, Mururi's side have a superior goal difference against Western Stima.
