Posta Rangers played host to the Murang'a-based side in an FKF Premier League match on Saturday, 26 April at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, where the Mailmen emerged 3-2 winners.
Vincent Wasambo broke the deadlock inside two minutes to give Posta a halftime lead. Seal came back from the tunnel a much better side and produced a brief comeback through Joe Waithira and Michael Owen in the 66th minute and 72nd minute, respectively.
Murang'a thought they were destined for a win until a controversial penalty was awarded by the referee in the 86th minute when captain Dennis Odhiambo was judged to have committed a foul inside the box.
“That is the nature of the game. It is never over until it is over. We were leading and destined for a win, but the refereeing left a lot to be desired,” lamented Chipo.
After Felix Oluoch converted from the spot to draw Posta level, the Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo-coached side managed to get the winning goal in the 93rd minute through Brian Marita to guarantee his side the maximum points.
The former Nzoia United coach chose to focus on the penalty incident, terming it as a crucial turning point of the game.
“My plan had worked. If not for the decision of the referee, the result would have been different,” he added.
Nevertheless, the former Harambee Stars assistant coach saw positives from his side from which he will build on, even as he corrects the mistakes noted in the match.
“We will just go back to the training ground and correct what we need to correct.”
The result left Seal in 17th place on the league standings with 26 points. With six matches to play before the season ends, Chipo must find a winning formula if his side is to escape the wide jaws of relegation that are ready to devour them.
