The Kenyan international scored a peach of a goal from outside the box to consolidate the easy victory for the ice cream makers.

Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna helped his Azam side to cement their third place position in the Tanzanian top flight league table as he scored in his team’s 6-1 thrashing of Mbeya City in their match played on Saturday evening at the Azam Complex.

Having failed to record a win in their last four matches, Azam were looking to find a remedy to their inconsistent form (2D 1L) when they took on a Mbeya City side whose last win came at the start of November and had not won any of the last ten games it played.

After a barren opening twenty minutes, Abdul Suleiman opened the scoring for Azam on the 22nd minute when he knocked the ball past the goalkeeper before grabbing the opener with an easy attempt into an empty net in what was the half’s only goal.

Seven minutes upon resumption of the second half, the half time team talk from Azam seemed to have the desired effect as Prince Dube rifled a shot past Mbeya goalkeeper to double the lead for the ice cream makers.

That goal added extra vigor to Azam who added two more goals in a space of two minutes with Suleiman bagging his brace on the 55th minute before Muguna scored a peach of a goal from way outside the box two minutes later to take Azam’s lead to four.

With twenty minutes left on the clock Iddi Nado created further daylight between his Azam and Mbeya as he scored the fifth Richardson Ngodya managed to score a goal for Mbeya put it proved to be a mere consolation as Cleophace Mkandala added the sixth and final goal that sealed the three points.
